 
The Brooklyn Psychiatric Society, the Kings County District Branch of the American Psychiatric Association, is a medical specialty society comprised of over 300 members either living or working in Brooklyn. The Society advocates for its members and its members’ patients and their families by:
- Promoting the highest care for individuals with mental disorders (including mental retardation and substance-related disorders) and their families.
- Promoting psychiatric education and research.
- Advancing and representing the profession of psychiatry in Brooklyn, and
- Serving the professional needs of its members.
